FAQ for parents

Daily Doodle is a free, ad-free morning email and website for kids ages 4 to 10. Below are the questions parents most commonly ask before subscribing, with honest answers from the founder.

Is Daily Doodle really free?
Yes. Daily Doodle is free for personal and classroom use. There are no ads aimed at kids and no upgrade tier. The site is funded by the founder personally — there is no investor pressure to monetize your kid's attention.
Is it safe for my 5-year-old?
Every doodle, fact, and photo passes a kid-safety classifier before it gets sent. We block weapons, violence, gore, mating, scary expressions, copyrighted characters, and anything graphic. We page a human reviewer on borderline scores. If we ever miss something, please reply to the email immediately — we will pause the send and respond within 4 hours.
Do you collect anything about my kid?
No. There is no account, no login, no kid profile. We collect only what you give us as the parent — your email address, optionally a first name, and your IP at signup. Our analytics provider does not use cookies and does not collect personally identifying information. If a reply looks like it was written by a kid, we delete it without logging.
What ages is Daily Doodle for?
It is designed for kids ages 4 to 10. Younger kids (4-6) usually need a grown-up to read the fact aloud and help with the print-out. Older kids (7-10) can do the whole thing themselves, including reading the fact and looking up the sources.
How is the art made?
The coloring pages are generated by OpenAI's gpt-image-1 model from a fixed prompt and then run through a kid-safety vision classifier. The animal photos are real photographs licensed from Unsplash, Pexels, or iNaturalist (we never AI-generate animals). Every image has a public provenance entry.
How do I print without a color printer?
You do not need a color printer — that is the point. The doodles are black-and-white line drawings, designed to be colored in by the kid. A standard inkjet or laser printer is all you need. The print page strips the website chrome and gives you a clean, printer-ready layout.
What if a fact is wrong?
Reply to the email. A real human reads every reply. We will check the sources, correct it in the archive within 48 hours, and write you back personally.
Why no ads?
Because ads aimed at kids are designed to rewire what they want. Daily Doodle is meant to be the opposite of that — a small, finite, screen-light moment in the morning. We won't run ads to children, ever. If the project ever needs to make money, it will be through a parent-facing offering, not a kid-facing one.
Why isn't there an app?
Because the whole point is less screen time, not more. Daily Doodle is built to end in a printer, not in scroll. There will never be a Daily Doodle app.
Can I print these for a classroom?
Yes, please. Daily Doodle is free for personal and classroom use. If you teach and want a teacher-pack of weekly themes mailed to you for free, reply to any issue.
Can I unsubscribe with one click?
Yes. The link is at the bottom of every email. We will never make you log in, click through a confirmation, or fill out a survey. We honor unsubscribes immediately.
